Ancestry

Ancestry.com is the most magical place. Because you have to pay to be on the site not many people talk about it but the money you pay goes to very good use; buying the rights to old censuses and records isn’t cheap. Digitising them and making them available to search is equally expensive. What Ancestry does is provide an amazing user interface that guides you through your family history and connects you with distant family members. No amount of money can replace the contacts and information that I’ve gained through being a member of the site. There’s no other family history website that can adequately be compared to it because it’s the only site with a realistic long-term business plan.
