M&S Opening Times on Mobile

Apr 29 2012

If you’re building a mobile version of a website, you need to think about users that get to your site from a search engine

It’s 3pm on a Sunday afternoon and I need to go into town to pick up some bread for the morning. I’ve just got back from town so I want to leave it as long as I can, so I Google “m&s opening times” on my iPhone. What I want is the answer there and then in Google. What I get is a link to the M&S Store Finder. I click on it and get the message “This page is not available for viewing on M&S mobile” and a button to go to the ‘Full Website’ (which is what I wanted anyway). I click on this and I’m taken to the M&S home page. Sigh…

If the page isn’t available and the user is on an iPhone, please just take them straight to the correct page on the ‘Full Website’. No need for buttons or ‘page not available’ messages. There’s no point having a mobile site for iPhones if you can’t get these basics right because the iPhone works perfectly well on a ‘Full Website’.
