Viewing Venus and Jupiter with an iPhone
Using the Planets, Night Sky and Average Camera Pro iPhone apps to name and record Venus and Jupiter.
I woke up at 3:30 this morning and went to open the window to cool the room down and I saw two bright lights in the sky. Quite unusual to have a clear sky because it’s been cloudy for a long time. I took the opportunity to fire up my ‘Planets‘ iPhone app to find out what they were. I was very excited to discover that I was looking at Venus and Jupiter! Seriously the first time I’d ever been able to name a star in the sky.
So, I opened up the ‘Average Camera Pro‘ app to take a photo. I set it to take 75 photos and overlay them and the result is below. I’ve also added a screengrab of the ‘Night Sky‘ app view of the same scene.
