Wispa – Challenge an Olympian
As part of their run-up to the Olympics (Cadbury is the ‘official treat provider’, believe it or not), Wispa promises us ‘the chance to Win’ on the pack. It’s quite intriguing as there’s no mention of what we’ll win. I buy the chocolate anyway and I watch the scrum as my boys fight to eat it. Inside the pack it says ‘Visit www.spotsvstripes.com/Olympian and enter your unique Spots v Stripes code to play’.
The website says the prizes are 26 tickets (presumably to the Olympics), and a chance to meet Kriss Akabusi, Rebecca Adlington, Amy Williams and Phillips Idowu. To play you firstly have to register. Cadbury are collecting Title, First Name, Last Name, Email address (which has to be entered twice…), Date of Birth and Country. Alternatively you can login with your Facebook account. I choose the latter. Unfortunately, this doesn’t actually log me in. All it does is populate the Title, First Name and Country fields. I’m then asked to fill in the remaining fields.
I then have to choose my team: Stripes or Spots. I’ve no idea what this means so I choose Stripes. After that I have to enter a username and password. I submit this and get an error page:

I re-submit and get asked for even more information. Now I need to supply my telephone, address, town and postcode. After that, I finally get to enter my code and play. I’m asked to choose between Fast Track, Buzz Wire, Write Reaction and Power Push. I randomly choose Write Reaction. I stare at a video of 2 people waving for a while before I realise I’m supposed to do something, but I’m not sure what. Eventually I read some text to the side that says I have to choose one of them to help coach me. I click on Amy Williams. I have to type a letter when I see it in the stripy lozenge. I lose badly. I then lose badly again. And then it’s over.
It’s not till I read my welcome email that I read that I’d chosen Spots. Which is strange. And probably explains why I lost so badly!
The spotsvstripes website consistently puts IExplorer into a hang state.
Kill the application and restart – same result.
