Working Hard is Not Enough

Jun 19 2011

Working hard is not enough to get what you want out of life. Most successful people have worked hard to get where they are, and it can be tempting for them to claim that hard work will get you similar results. It won’t. Not on its own anyway. The most significant factor in life success is luck.

But does that mean you shouldn’t work hard? No, because by working hard, failing often, learning constantly, building relationships and staying healthy, you give yourself the best chance of being able to take advantage of the opportunities that luck throws your way.

It’s the magical combination of hard work and luck that creates success, and hard work is the only thing you have control over.
