Arniston Bay have a Text2Win promotion on their bottles of wine, with the prize being a weekend at a coastal hotel in the UK. I didn’t win, but the promotion has been well thought through with the losing message containing a link for a 2-4-1 hotel offer. This helps the consumer to feel positive about the brand even though they’ve lost.

The T&Cs at www.arnistonbaycoastalbreaks.co.uk say that you can enter up to 4 times so I tried that. It would have been nice for the system to recognise repeat entries and provide a varied response but the text message was the same each time. I tried entering a fifth time and this was treated the same with another “Sorry! You’ve not been lucky” message, which was confusing.
