Is There Anybody Going to Listen to My Twitter Story?

By letting me follow interesting people I’d be unlikely to meet in the real world, I originally thought Twitter would be a great learning and networking tool. But my feed was full of news I’d picked up on ByLine days ago, or details of someone’s life that I really struggled to relate to.

I’d effectively stopped using Twitter because I wasn’t interested in 99% of the comments in my stream.

So late last night I unfollowed every single person whose name I didn’t recognise. I removed every brand, every recruitment company, most marketing agencies. I now follow 86 accounts – down from around 320.

Now the white noise is gone, I’m seeing Twitter completely differently.
